The IKO ( International Kiteboarding Organization ) Instructor Training Course (ITC) Level 1 is the most effective way to become a certified Kite Boarding Instructor. You can turn your passion for Kitesurfing into a profession that could lead to you traveling the world, developing your home spot or opening your own Kiteboarding School. You will also have the knowledge and experience to develop your career within the IKO to become IKO Level 2 Instructor, IKO Coach for advanced riders and even IKO Examiner. Prerequisites you must have:

You must be able to read, write and speak fluently in the language the course is given. You are fine to continue with the ITC. You will not be able to follow all of the content in the ITC and you will not pass the written Exam and fail the ITC. Find an ITC in your preferred language.
Have one-year minimum of kiteboard riding experience and be at an IKO level 3n for at least 6-months (Upwind riding, turning, jumping, riding toe side and self rescue). Show your IKO Kiteboarders Card to your Examiner. Whether you have an IKO card or not you will still be asked to perform level 3n skills during the ITC. You will be asked to perform level 3n skills on demand during the ITC, if you cannot perform with confidence and textbook execution you will fail the ITC. Keep practicing and sign up for an ITC in 6 months or when you’re ready.
Have an IKO Assistant Instructor certification.

 

Give a copy of your AITC Certificate and your IKO Assistant Instructor ID Number to your examiner on the first day of the ITC. Supply the name and IKO ID number of the Level 2 Instructor who Certified you. Go to the IKO website to enroll in an AITC  http://ikointl.com/iko.php?page=assistant-kiteboarding-instructor.php You can do an AITC with any Level 2 Instructor or with the Examiner or School organizing the ITC Level 1.
Have a valid First Aid and CPR certificate. Give a copy of a valid First Aid CPR certificate to your examiner on the first day of the ITC. (Healthcare Professionals should provide proof of their medical training) Complete the First Aid CPR course before the ITC with the IKO Examiner. This Certificate is valid for 2 years.  You may be able to take a refresher course if available.
Have a boat safety course certification or a powerboat license if required in your country.

 

Give a copy of your Power Boat License or Boat Safety certificate to your examiner on the first day of the ITC. (If there’s no Local Boat License you need a Boat Safety Cert) Comply with local laws and get a relevant Boat License or Complete the Boat Safety Course at https://elearning.boatus.org/ Print the certificate and give it to your Examiner.
Pass all 6 of the online Pre-ITC Courses and Exams. Make a note of your scores for all 6 Pre ITC Exams and give them to your Examiner for confirmation. Go to: http://www.ikointl.com/online-education/  Go to Pre-ITC Courses, select a course and create a new account. Read the content. Complete all 6 Pre ITC course exams BEFORE the first day of the ITC.

Ask your Examiner for the “Enrolment Key”

Sign the waiver form. Hand the Waiver form to your Examiner on the first day of the ITC. Sign this with the Examiner in the morning of the first day of the ITC.
